Jan. 2, 2004
Brown University senior Hobey Baker Candidate Yann Danis (Saint Jerome, Quebec) was honored as the ECAC Goaltender of the Week (12/30), helping to lead the Bears to Third Place finish at the 2nd Annual Subway Holiday Classic, hosted by North Dakota. The honor for Danis marks the ninth time in his career, and the second time this season, he has been named ECAC Goalie of the Week.
Danis earned All-Tournament recognition at the Tournament, stopping 50 of 54 shots in two games, including four-of-five shots he faced in Brown's shootout victory over Findlay, which officially goes in the record books as a 1-1 tie.
Danis currently leads the nation in both save percentage (.949) and goals against average (1.57), in addition to shutouts (3).
Freshman Brian Ihnacak (Toronto, Ontario), a two-time ECAC Rookie of the Week this season, made his second appearance on the ECAC Honor Roll this year. The Bears' leading scorer, he scored a goal and added an assist in Brown's overtime loss to Wayne State and scored one of Brown's two shootout goals in the tie with Findlay. Ihnacak also represented Brown on the Subway Holiday Classic All-Tournament Team.
Brown will look to snap a four-game skid (0-2-2) tonight when it faces RPI in an ECAC contest at the Engineers' Houston Fieldhouse.
