After almost four minutes of scoreless action, North Dakota took a 1-0 lead at the 3:58 mark of the opening period and Jason Notermann and Brandon Bochenski combined on a two-on-one to beat junior Yann Danis (Saint-Jerome, QUE) and open the game's scoring.
Bochenski increased North Dakota's lead to 2-0 less than four minutes later with a low-angle shot that snuck through Danis' legs at 7:07 of the first. Notermann gave the Sioux a 3-0 lead at 17:37 of the opening period with a power-play goal.
Senior Paul Esdale (Edmonton, ALB) notched his fifth goal of the year at 8:07 of the second stanza to get Brown on the board and cut North Dakota's lead to two goals. Classmate Keith Kirley (Leverett, MA) hit Esdale with a pass from behind the net and the defenseman went top-shelf, scoring his second goal in as many games.
Brown game to within one goal at 15:40 of the second as junior Scott Ford (Fort St. John, BC) fired a rocket from the blue-line that beat Fighting Sioux goalie Josh Siembida. The goal, Ford's second of the season, came on the power-play, and was assisted by Esdale.
The Fighting Sioux regained the two-goal lead at 8:51 of the third on a goal by David Lundbohm, and took a 5-2 lead at 17:04 of the final stanza as Bochenski completed a hat-trick with North Dakota's second power-play goal of the night.
