PROVIDENCE, RI - The Crimson (5-4-2, 5-2-2) scored four unanswered goals to break open a 1-1 game and defeat Brown (3-5-1, 3-4-1), 5-2, in an ECAC and Ivy Men's Ice Hockey contest at Meehan Auditorium.
Brown got on the board just 3:16 into the contest when freshman Les Haggett (Norwood, NY) scored his second goal in as many games to give Brown a 1-0 lead. The goal was assisted by sophomore Pascal Denis (Magog, QUE), who earned his second assist in as many games, and junior Jason Wilson (LaSalle, ONT).
However, Harvard's second line scored back-to-back goals six minutes apart to take a 2-1 lead into the second period. The Crimson added one more in the second and then a power play goal just 1:07 into the third to take a commanding 4-1 lead with 18 left to play.
Sophomore Adam Saunders (Moose Jaw, SASK) scored his fourth goal of the season to bring Brown to within three at 7:18 of the third. Sophomore Scott Ford (Fort St. John, BC) and Haggett each earned assists, but Harvard tallied it's fifth of the night less than seven minutes later.
Senior Brian Eklund (Braintree, MA) made 29 saves for the Bears, who will take a three-week hiatus for exams and the holidays. The Bears continue action on Thursday, December 27, when they face Wisconsin in the opening game of the Bank One Badger Showdown in Milwaukee.
