Men's Icers Skate To 1-1 Tie With Clarkson

Nov. 30, 2001

PROVIDENCE, RI - Sophomore Yann Danis (Lafontaine, QUE) made a season-high 32 saves to backstop Brown (2-4-1, 2-3-1) to a 1-1 tie with visiting Clarkson (4-6-2, 3-0-1) in an ECAC men's ice hockey contest on Friday evening at Meehan Auditorium.

After nearly a period of scoreless action, Brown took a 1-0 lead with just over two minutes remaining. With Brown on the power play, sophomore Shane Mudryk (Leduc, ALB) got to puck to junior Paul Esdale (Edmonton, ALB) at the point. Esdale fired a slapshot at Clarkson's Mike Walsh, and sophomore Brent Robinson (Pointe Claire, QUE) tipped it in for his second goal of the season.

However Clarkson scored the tying goal less than five minutes into the second stanza. The goal, which proved to be the final goal of the game, was also on the power play.

Both teams had ample opportunities, but strong goaltending was the factor as Walsh finished the 21 saves.

Brown continues action on Saturday, December 1, when they host St. Lawrence in a 7:00 p.m. contest.
