Men's Hockey Drops Clarkson 4-1

Nov. 28, 2003

The Brown men's hockey team defeated Clarkson, 4-1, Friday night at Meehan Auditorium. The Bears were leBrowd by junior Les Haggett (Norwood, NY) who had two assists and senior Nick Ringstad (Fairbanks, AK) who scored the Bears final goal of the night. Brown controlled the tempo of the game for all three periods and senior goalie Yann Danis (Sainte Jerome, QUE) had 31 saves, many of which were huge stops for the Bears.

Brown opened up the first period with a relentless attack and solid defensive play that led to the Bears first goal at 4:27. Senior Vince Macri (Durham, NH) buried the puck off a pass from freshman Brian Ihnacak (Toronto, ONT) and Haggett.

The second period saw the Bears score right away, 1:15 into play. Junior Chris Swon (Mendham, NJ) who was set up by senior Pascal Denis (Magog, QUE) and freshman Sean Dersch (Edmonton, ALB), beat Clarkson's goalie with a wrist shot put the Bears up by two. Senior captain Scott Ford (Fort St. John, BC) tallied Brown's third goal as he drilled the puck in during a 4x3 Bruno power play at 13:21. Ford was assisted by senior assistant captain Brent Robinson (Pointe Claire, QUE) and Haggett.

The third period had Brown once again score in the beginning minutes of play. Senior Shane Mudryk (Leduc, ALB) fought off two Clarkson defensemen to set up a wide-open Ringstad for a beautiful one-on-one with the Clarkson goalie. Time of that goal was 3:39. Clarkson got one goal on the board at 13:25 mark, spoiling the shutout for Danis.
