Box Score

HANOVER, NH - Dartmouth capitalized on a five-on-three power play at 2:58 of the second period as the 13th-ranked Big Green (5-3-0, 4-3-0) earned a 1-0 victory over the Brown men's ice hockey team (2-3-2, 1-2-1) on Saturday evening at Thompson Arena. Special teams were key in the game, as Dartmouth went 1-8 on the power play, while Brown was 0-8 with the man-advantage.

The two teams played a scoreless first period of hockey, with each team taking six shots on goal during the 20-minute frame.

The Big Green were award back-to-back power-play opportunities early in the second period, including a 33-second 5-on-3 advantage. Dartmouth used just six seconds of the two-man advantage to take a 1-0 lead when David Jones beat freshman Dan Rosen (Syosset, NY) glove-side, scoring off a face-off win to Rosen's right at 2:58.

Less than three minutes later, at 5:47, the Bears were awarded a two-man advantage of their own, for 1:05, but Brown couldn't break through the Big Green defense as the score remained 1-0 in favor of Dartmouth.

Neither team could gain any momentum in the third period, which featured four penalties between the two teams during the middle third. The Bears had a five-minute power play at 7:54 of the third, but Dartmouth was able to kill off the first 4:02 of the penalty, before a Brown penalty set up 58 seconds of four-on-four action followed by a Big Green power play. But that advantage only lasted eight seconds, as Dartmouth was whistled for another penalty at 13:03, setting up more four-on-four action and another Brown power play.

Brown pulled Rosen with 1:03 remaining for the extra attacker. Senior Sean Dersch (Edmonton, ALB) won two critical offensive zone face-offs in the final 50 seconds, but the Bears couldn't net the equalizer.

Rosen finished with 37 saves, while Devine made 30 stops for Dartmouth. Brown will take a break from ECAC Hockey League action when it hosts AIC and Providence College on Saturday, November 25th and 26th. Both games begin at 2:00 p.m.
