Nov. 1, 2004
PROVIDENCE, RI - The Brown men's ice hockey team (0-0-1) dropped a 1-0 decision to the U.S. Under-18 team in an exhibition contest on Sunday afternoon at Meehan Auditorium. The game was the final exhibition action for Brown this season and a final test before four straight ECACHL conference games.
The Bears dominated the game, outshooting the U.S. 42-22 and winning 40 of 73 faceoffs, but couldn't solve goaltender Frazee. Mark Mitera scored all the U.S. Under-18 team would need for the win just 3:26 into the game.
Senior Gerry Burke (Milton, MA) and freshman David Robertson (Saunderstown, RI) led Brown in shots, with six each, while sophomore Brian Ihnacak (Toronto, ONT) and junior Cory Caouette (Spruce Grove, ALB) added five shots each. Junior Adam Tichauer (Toronto, ONT) blocked two shots to lead Brown in that category.
In net for the Bears, senior Scott Rowan (Vernon, BC) recorded 21 saves. Brown continues ECACHL action this Friday, November 5, when it travels to Hamilton, NY to face Colgate at 7:00 p.m.
