Brown Defeats Bentley, 2-0, in Pre-Season Scrimmage

The Brown University men's ice hockey team defeated Bentley on Monday, October 20, 2-0, in a pre-season scrimmage at Meehan Auditorium. The Bears played two 18-minute periods with one group of players and two 15-minute periods with another group of players. Both goals were scored in the first 18-minute period.

Brown got on the board first when sophomore Dami Amurawaiye netted a power-play goal with 7:49 remaining in the first period. Senior Scott Ford tallied an assist on the goal.

Just 3:37 later, the Bears grabbed a 2-0 lead with a goal by sophomore Pete LeCain, with 4:12 remaining in the period. He was assisted by junior Mike Meech and sophomore Rugo Santini.

In net for Brown, senior Yann Danis made seven saves in 26:45, junior Scott Rowan made 11 saves in 18:48, and sophomore Kevin Kliman posted nine saves in 20:27, as the three goalies combined for the shutout.

The Bears continue pre-season action on Sunday, October 26, when they host Quebec, Trois-Rivires in a 3:00 p.m. exhibition game, their final test before the 2003-2004 season opener, which is set for 7:00 p.m. November 1, at Harvard.
