CAMBRIDGE, MA - The Brown men's ice hockey team (14-10-3, 9-9-2) couldn't get past Harvard's Dov Grumet-Morris in a 3-0 loss to #11 Harvard (18-7-2, 15-4-1) in an ECACHL and Ivy League contest on Tuesday evening at the Bright Hockey Center. With the loss, the Bears can no longer get a bye for the Playoffs and will finish either fifth, sixth, or seventh in the 12-team League.

The Crimson took a 1-0 lead less than five minutes into the contest when Tom Cavanagh knocked the puck into an open net from the edge of the crease, after collecting the puck from Ryan Maki, who was in the corner. Just past the midway point of the game, the Bears just missed tying the game. The Crimson went down the other way and took a 2-0 lead when Charlie Johnson beat freshman Adma D'Alba (Glencoe, IL) on his stick side.

The Bears were again knocking on the door with under five minutes to play, but sophomore Sean Dersch (Edmonton, ALB) and freshman Brian McNary (Edmonton, ALB) both had their shots saved with Brown on the man-advantage.

McNary had another great scoring opportunity with less than 45 seconds to go in the second, but Grumet-Morris kept Brown off the board. Again, Harvard when down the other way, and took a 3-0 lead with just 17 seconds left in the period when Maki fired the puck past D'Alba.

D'Alba finished with 25 saves for the Bears, who continue action this weekend when they travel to Vermont and New Hampshire for a pair of critical ECACHL games at Vermont and Dartmouth, the final two of the regular season.
