2001-2002: Saunders played in 30 of 31 games, nearly tripling his point totals from his rookie season ... Finished as the sixth-leading scorer on the team with 8-7-15 numbers, including three power-play goals ... He had a low six penalty minutes and tallied 5-6-11 totals in ECAC contests ... Notched his first goal of the season on the power-play at Dartmouth ... Had a career-high four points (2-2) at Vermont the next night to lead Brown to a 5-1 win ... Tallied his first collegiate point with an assist at Clarkson ... Scored first career goal at Yale, the lone Brown goal of the game ... Added an assist against Cornell ... Amassed three points in final four games of the season, scoring a goal at Union to get Brown on the board as the Bears game back from a 2-0 deficit to earn a 2-2 tie ... Added an assist in each of the last two games of the season, against Princeton and Yale.
Before Brown: Saunders came to Brown after playing with the Estevan Bruins of the SJHL. Saunders was named team MVP and led the team in scoring with 33 goals and 35 assists in 60 games. Named to the Junior All-Star team, Saunders was also a Midget All-Star and team scoring leader. He helped lead the Bruins to the 1998-99 SJHL Championship title. Also ran track for two years in high school and was a member of the honor roll all four years of high school.
