A powerful forward with a strong shot, Shane Mudryk has made steady improvements over the past three years. He will be looked upon to continue as a scoring threat, playing both left wing and center last year.

2002-2003: Finished last year with 13 points (5g, 8a), seventh on the team, including eight points in ECAC contests ... Ended the season with a "+7" rating, third on the team, and just eight penalty minutes, the least among regulars ... Scored his first goal of the year, Brown's third of the game, in 5-0 win over Vermont ... Had a two-assist game the next night as the Bears defeated Dartmouth 4-2 ... Posted one goal and one assist in Brown's 5-2 win at Princeton ... Before Brown: Mudryk, a graduate of Christ the King school in Leduc, Alberta, has played for two seasons with the Grande Prairie Storm Junior "A" Team. In 1999-2000, he served as the team's assistant captain and was the leading scorer with 37 goals and 37 assists in 67 games. He was named to the Alberta Junior Hockey League All-Star Team in 1999-2000 after having been named to the Alberta Junior Hockey League All-Rookie line in 1998-1999. He was also named Rookie of the Year with the Grande Prairie Storm that same season. Mudryk was also a member of the "Alberta Selects," who played for the Viking Cup. Prior to playing with the Grande Prairie Storm, Mudryk played for two years with the Leduc Oil Kings Midget "AAA" team, playing in the Alberta Midget Hockey League. He served as the team captain in 1997-1998 and was voted team MVP by his peers. In his final season with Leduc, Mudryk scored 25 goals and had 43 assists in only 36 games. A member of the honor roll at Christ the King, Mudryk had his school's highest overall average in tenth grade.
