Chris Dirkes is a big, strong, physical defenseman whose size alone makes him an obstacle for Brown opponents. He is a strong skater who makes good decisions in his own zone and can play both forward and defense.

2000-2001: Played in seven games and finished the season with one assist ... Tallied his only point of the season, assisting on J-F Labarre's goal to put Brown up 3-1 in 5-4 win over UMass-Lowell.

1999-2000: Appeared in 23 games last season and scored his first two career goals ... Made his debut on the left wing of Brown's fourth forward line at Lowell in late December, but was moved back to defense two weeks later due to an injury of Greg Hayes '00 ... Scored first collegiate goal in 6-4 loss to Vermont ...Tallied second goal in the 6-5 loss to Clarkson ... Spent least amount of time in penalty box among all defensemen with 12 penalty minutes.

1998-1999: Notched his first career point in his first career outing, assisting the fourth goal in a 4-1 win at Harvard ... Spread his five assists out among five different games ... Fed Matt Kohansky '01 for the Bears' final goal in a resounding 8-3 victory at MSU-Mankato ... Assisted Jon Zielinski's '01 goal, Brown's second, in a 3-3 tie versus Union.

Before Brown: Dirkes led Deerfield Academy to the New England Prep School Finals in 1998. He was a three-time Hockey Night in Boston all-star, including the All-Scholastic Midwest MVP in 1998. He was a two-time (1994-1995 and 1995-1996) Aspen Defenseman Award winner, and attended the USA Hockey National Camps in St. Cloud and Colorado Springs in 1995, and Lake Placid in 1996. In 1997, he helped lead Deerfield to the Flood Marr Tournament Championship, and was an all-tournament team selection. In his senior season, Deerfield took second in the New England Championship Tournament.
