Before Brown: Amurawaiye was a two-year member of the ice hockey team at The Holderness School. The captain for the team as a senior, Amurawaiye was selected to play on the 2001-2002 Prep School All-Star Team and also received an invitation to the 2001-2002 All-Scholastic Tournament. A two-year Hockey Night in Boston All-Star, Amurawaiye scored the game-winning goal in the 2001-2002 Hockey Night in Boston All-Star game. In addition, he finished the 2001-2002 season as the top-scoring defenseman at Holderness. A two-year honor roll student at Holderness, Amurawaiye also played football and lacrosse.
