Whittet Announces 2014-15 Men’s Hockey Schedule

2014-15 Schedule

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Head coach Brendan Whittet of the Brown University men's hockey program has announced the schedule for the upcoming 2014-15 season.

The 29-game schedule features 13 home games and 10 contests against teams that participated in last year's NCAA Tournament, including the last three national champions in Union, Yale and Boston College. In addition to a full ECAC Hockey slate, the Bears will also take on crosstown rival Providence College in a weekend home-and-home series, making up two of the four games against Hockey East schools on the schedule. The remaining three games will feature opponents from the NCHC and Atlantic Hockey.

After opening the season on Friday, Oct. 31 at Army, the Bears kick off six straight ECAC contests with a pair of home games against St. Lawrence and Clarkson (Nov. 7-8). The Bears then head out on the road for back-to-back weekends, visiting Harvard and Dartmouth (Nov. 14-15) before traveling to Colgate and Cornell (Nov. 21-22).

Brown rounds out the month with a pair of non-conference contests against regional teams, hosting UConn (Nov. 29) and visiting Holy Cross (Nov. 30). The Bears then return home for ECAC play as they entertain defending national champion Union on Dec. 5 before hosting Rensselaer the next night to close out the first part of the season.

The Bears start the new calendar year on Jan. 2-3 at the Dartmouth Ledyard Bank Tournament, where they will face off against Boston College and Denver, two teams that played in the 2014 NCAA Tournament. Brown wraps up non-conference play the next weekend with a home-and-home set against Providence (Jan. 9-10), first hosting the Friars before heading to Schneider Arena. Brown and Providence will face off twice in the same season for the first time since Feb. 11-12, 1983.

Brown opens a 13-game stretch against ECAC opponents with a home-and-home weekend series with Yale (Jan. 16-17). After heading to the North Country to take on Clarkson and St. Lawrence (Jan. 23-24), the Bears return to College Hill to face off against Quinnipiac and Princeton (Jan. 30-31). Brown completes the four-game home swing on Feb. 6-7 when they welcome Dartmouth and Harvard to Meehan Auditorium.

Brown continues with a pair of road weekends at Rensselaer and Union (Feb. 13-14) and at Princeton and Quinnipiac (Feb. 20-21), before closing out the regular season at home against Cornell and Colgate (Feb. 27-28).

ECAC Hockey playoffs begin the following weekend with the First Round scheduled for March 6-8. Quarterfinals will be played March 13-15 and the ECAC Championships in Lake Placid, New York, is scheduled for March 20-21.
