Men's Hockey's Hathaway Signs With AHL’s Abbotsford Heat
PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Forward Garnet Hathaway (Kennebunkport, Maine), who recently wrapped up a four-year career with the Brown men's hockey team, has recently signed a professional contract with the Abbotsford Heat of the American Hockey League. Abbotsford is the minor league affiliate of the Calgary Flames.
Hathaway appeared in 31 games for the Bears as a senior this past season and finished with six goals and nine assists for 15 points, including three points (1g, 2a) at St. Lawrence in the First Round of the ECAC Playoffs.
A two-time assistant captain, Hathaway finished his Brown career with 58 points behind 20 goals and 38 assists in 121 games played. A solid defensive forward with a physical style of play, Hathaway ranked third on the team and first among forwards with 37 blocked shots as a senior. He also notched a pair of goals in a win over No. 4 Quinnipiac, including the game-winning tally. Hathaway posted a career-high 21 points as a junior, including 15 assists.
Brown completed the 2013-14 season with a record of 11-17-3 and 8-13-1 in ECAC play. For more information on the Brown hockey program, visit www.brownbears.com.
