ALBANY, N.Y. – Sophomore Mark Naclerio (Milford, Conn.) of the Brown University men's hockey team has been named the ECAC Player of the Month for the first time in his career, announced by the league office Wednesday morning.
In eight games during the month of January, Naclerio led the Bears with eight goals and 14 points, in addition to six assists, and finished with a plus-7 to go along with six blocks. He posted multiple-point efforts in four games, including three wins, and also notched the game-winning goal against Colgate and the game-tying tally against Denver. Naclerio led the Bears to a 4-2-2 record, registering at least one point in all but one contest. He tied for the national lead in goals scored with eight and goals per game (1.00) and tied for third in points with 14. He led all ECAC Hockey players in points (14), points per game (1.75), goals (8) and assists (10).
Naclerio is in the midst of a career year with the Bears, as he leads the team offensively with 14 goals and 15 assists for 29 points. Naclerio, a three-time ECAC Player of the Week selection, ranks ninth in the nation in points per game (1.38) and has recorded eight multiple-point games this season. He also ranks fourth in the conference in goals scored and second in game-winning tallies with four. He was recently named one of 16 semifinalists for the 62nd Walter Brown Award, presented annually to the best American-born college hockey player in New England.
