ALBANY, N.Y. – Junior Massimo Lamacchia (Maple, Ontario) of the Brown University men's hockey team has been named the ECAC Player of the Week for the first time this season, announced by the league office Tuesday afternoon.
Lamacchia scored a pair of goals to lead Brown to a 3-3 draw against No. 5/4 Boston College on Saturday. The junior gave the Bears a 2-1 lead late in the second period, and then scored his second of the contest early in the third, answering a Boston College equalizer just 25 seconds later for his fourth tally of the season.
Lamacchia is the second straight Bear to take home Player of the Week honors after sophomore Mark Naclerio (Milford, Conn.) earned the award last week for the second time this season.
Brown, unbeaten over its last five contests, returns to action this weekend when they visit St. Lawrence on Friday before heading to No. 14 Clarkson on Saturday. Both games are set to start at 7 p.m.
The Bears return home on Friday, Jan. 24 when they host No. 8 Yale at 7 p.m. For tickets, purchase online, call the Brown Athletics Ticket Office at (401) 863-2773, or walk up to the Box Office located in the Pizzitola Sports Center, open Monday-Friday, 9 a.m. - 4 p.m.
