PROVIDENCE, RI – Brown freshman Nick Lappin (Geneva, IL) was named Hogan Hockey/ECAC Hockey Rookie of the Month for the month of March. As the League's Rookie of the Month, Lappin is now eligible for the Hockey Commissioner's Association National Rookie of the Month.
In nine games during the month of March, Lappin ranked third in scoring in the nation with 10 points (1g, 9a), averaging one assist per game. He led his rookie ECAC Hockey counterparts in scoring during this time in overall contests as well and finished with a +3 rating to go along with five blocks. His goal was the game-winning tally in the Bears' 3-2 victory over Rensselaer, which clinched the ECAC Quarterfinal best-of-three series and sent Brown to the ECAC Hockey Semifinals. Lappin's play was instrumental in helping Brown go 6-3-0 during the month of March, while advancing to the ECAC Hockey Championship game for the first time since 1993.
Lappin finished his rookie season fourth overall on the team in scoring (7g, 13a) in 33 games. He also had three power play goals and three game-winning goals.
