PROVIDENCE, RI – Brown junior goalie Mike Clemente (Great Falls, VA) has been named the ECAC Hockey/MLX Skates Goaltender of the Week for the week ending November 21st. Clemente helped lead the Bears to a sweep at Colgate (5-2) and Cornell (3-2), as the Bears swept the central-New York road trip for the first time since February, 1993. The sweep was also Brown's first regular season road sweep since January, 2005 and it marked the Bears' first win over Cornell since 2006-2007.
For the weekend, Clemente posted 48 saves, a .923 save percentage, and a 2.00 GAA, while allowing only one even-strength goal. He recorded 28 saves in Friday's 5-2 win over Colgate, including 22 of the final two periods. The next night against Cornell, Clemente stopped 20 of 22 Big Red shots, including all 10 in the first period, as Brown was able to grab a 1-0 lead. Both goals allowed against Cornell came with the Big Red skating an extra attacker, while Colgate's second goal was scored in the same way.
Clemente and the rest of the Bears are in action again Tuesday evening when they travel to New Hampshire to face the 6th-ranked Wildcats in a 7:00 p.m. game.
