Ed Hanley Steps Down As Brown Men's Golf Coach

Providence, Rhode Island - Ed Hanley, the head men's golf coach at Brown for the last four years, has resigned his position, citing personal reasons. A search for his successor will begin immediately.

Hanley guided the Bears to a third place finish at last year's Ivy League Championship, equaling Brown's best finish ever. He also coach Larry Haertel '08, Brown's first ever Ivy League individual champion in 2006.

Hanley has been the head golf professional at the Cranston Country Club since 1998. He has also worked as an assistant golf professional at the Pelican Marsh Golf Club in Naples, Florida from 1996-1998, and as an assistant golf professional at the Gateway Golf and Country Club in Ft. Myers, Florida from 1994-1995. A 1993 graduate of the University of Rhode Island with a BA in Speech Communication, Hanley has been the assistant golf coach at the Community College of Rhode Island from 2000-2002. While at RICC, Hanley coordinated the Rhode Island Intercollegiate Tournament.
