Providence, RI - Brown University senior Larry Haertel '08 (Greenwich, Conn.) has been named to the Golf Coaches Association of America/Ping Division I All New England Team for the third consecutive year.
The Ping All-region teams consist of the top 15 individuals in their region in the Individual rankings system. Additionally, any player ranked nationally in the top 75 according to the Golfstat or the Sagarin rankings not included their regions top 15 are added to their All-Region team.
Haertel capped off another outstanding season at Brown by winning the New England Championship at the Triggs Memorial Golf Club, and placing second while helping the Bears to a second place finish at the Ivy League Championship, held at the Galloway National Country Club.
Maintaining his competitive edge in the off-season, Haertel played in the prestigious Northeast Amateur, and placed second at the Connecticut State Amateur Stroke Play Championship with rounds of 69, 69. In addition, he earned low amateur honors at the 85th Annual Westchester Golf Association Open Championship with a two-under par 218 that included a final round career low 67.
