Larry Haertel '08 (Greenwich, CT) completed a successful freshman season by being named to the PING All-New England Team as announced by the Golf Coaches Association of America.
Each of the nine PING All-Region Teams is comprised of 15 golfers and any player ranked in the Top 75 nationally.
Haertel was Brown's top scorer in three tournaments in the spring, finishing 10th at the Ivy League Championship with a sizzling 71 in the second round, 13th at the Yale Invitational with a second day 72, and 16th at the New England Championship. He also placed 11th at the Yale MacDonald's Cup in the fall and 21st at the Dartmouth Invitational.
Haertel has continued his outstanding play over the summer. He advanced to the quarterfinals in the Connecticut State Amateur Championship, and won the Russell C. Palmer Cup in Hartford, Connecticut. He currently ranks second in the Connecticut State Golf Association Player of the Year point totals.
