Bears Fourth At New England Championship After Day One

Providence, Rhode Island - After the first day of competition at the New England Division I Championship at the Triggs Memorial Golf Club, the Brown men's golf team is in fourth place with a team score of 302. The Bears, led by senior Danny Wallis' sizzling two-under par 70, trail Binghamton (288), URI (295) and Boston College (300), tied with Hartford (302) and ahead of Dartmouth (304), Central Connecticut (304), Fairfield (304), Quinnipiac (305), Harvard (305), Sacred Heart (307), Yale (308), UConn (313), Army (315), Boston U. (323) and Providence College (333).
Mallis' two-under par 70 is the third best score of day one at the Donald Ross designed course. Sophomore Larry Haertel and freshman Conor Malloy each shot 76 for the Bears, while junior Lanny Benson shot 80 and senior Don Mowlds shot 82.
Play will conclude on Saturday, April 15, with the Bears teeing off at 9:30 a.m.
