Cranston, Rhode island - The men's golf teams from Brown and Dartmouth got together at the Cranston Country Club this weekend for the final competition of the fall season. With a strong first round (312) and sizzling second round (303), Brown defeated the Big Green by a 615-623 margin.
Brown sophomore Aaron Telch (Palo Alto, CA) and senior Robert Chen (Orangeburg, SC) were co-medallists in the two-day event, shooting 154 each. Both players were solid at the par-71 Cranston layout, with Telch shooting 76-78, and Chen coming in at 78-76.
Freshman Larry Haertel (Greenwich, CT) shot 81 the first day but answered with a 74 in his second round to finish in a tie for third at 155. Sophomore Donny Mowlds (Sacramento, CA) came in at 158, while senior James Hahn (Rumford, RI) (87-76) and sophomore Lanny Benson (St. Louis, MO) (86-77) shot 163 each.
