Brewster, Mass. - A strong second day 309 lifted the Brown men's golf team to a 7th place finish at the 74th Annual New England Intercollegiate Golf Association Championship, held at the par 72 Captains Course on Cape Cod, Mass. The Bears shot a two-day 627 (318, 309) to finish seventh in the 42-team field. Bryant earned the team championship with a two round 604, shooting 291 to come from behind on the final day.
Sacred Heart, the first day leader, finished second at 605, followed by Central Connecticut (609), Nichols (617), Dartmouth (617), UConn (619), Brown (627), Husson (627) Post University (632) and Johnson & Wales (632) to round out the top-10.
Sophomore Michael Amato earned a top 10 finish with rounds of 72-78--150 to place 8th in the 211 player field, the best finish of his collegiate career.
Brown's second day 309 was led by senior co-captain Conor Malloy, who shot a three-over-par 75 to finish with a two-day total of 159. Junior John Giannuzzi carded 76 for the Bears to finish with a two-round 157.
The NEIGA Championship completes the fall season for the Bears.
