New Haven, CT - After firing a sizzling 285 on the second day of competition, which is believed to be a school record, the Brown men's golf team placed eighth at the Yale Macdonald's Cup Championship, finishing 11 shots off the pace at the Yale Golf Club. Brown's second day 285 was the lowest one-day score of the tournament as the Bears finished with a two-day 591.
The Bears placed eighth behind Penn (580), Binghamton (581), Rhode Island (582), Richmond (584), Army (588), Hartford (588), Dartmouth (589), and ahead of Yale (593), Quinnipiac (596), Columbia (598), central Connecticut (599), UConn (604), Yale II (606), Harvard (610), St. Thomas Aquinas (610), Fairleigh Dickinson (614), Holy Cross (619), Boston University (624), and Sacred Heart (625).
Brown's second day 285 was led by senior Danny Wallis (Los Gatos, CA) with 69, senior Donny Mowlds (Sacramento, CA) at 70, junior Aaron Telch (Palo Alto, CA) at 73, junior Lanny Benson (St. Louis, MO) at 74 and sophomore Larry Haertel (Greenwich, CT) at 75.
Mowlds finished seventh individually with a two day 148, followed by Haertel (148), Wallis (149), Telch (151) and Benson (154).
