Bears Sixth After Day One of Yale Invitational

new Haven, CT - After day one of the MacDonalds Cup, the Brown men's golf team is in contention for the team title with a team score of 301, good for a sixth place tie in the 26-team tournament played at the par-71, 6,749 yard Yale Golf Course. Texas Christian University leads the field with 285 in the opening round, holding one shot lead over Yale.

Coach Mike Harbour's team was once again led by senior Larry Haertel, who carded an even par 71, good for fifth place individually. Junior Chris Hoffman came in at four over 75, and is 33rd overall.

Senior Ryan Larson carded 77, while freshman Mark Dee shot 78 on the opening day of his first collegiate tournament. Sophomore John Giannuzzi also scored for the Baers, coming in at 84.

Play will conclude on Sunday.
