Bears 15th At Adams Cup of Newport

Newport, RI - The final results are in from the 14th Annual Adams Cup of Newport, and the Brown men's golf team has finished 15th overall at one of the premier golf events of the collegiate season, played at the par-72, 7,244-yard Newport National Golf Club. Brown shot a three-round 968 (320-321-327) for its 15th place finish.

Wichita State captured the team title with a three-round 890, followed by Southern Mississippi (901), Rhode Island (902), Maryland (902), Texas-San Antonio (905), South Carolina- Aiken (906), Pacific (909), Furman (911), Francis Marion (912), Long Beach State (920), Georgetown (920), Louisiana-Lafayette (928), UConn (937) and Yale (948).

Headlining the Bears' was senior Larry Haertel, who carded a three-day 233 (79-76-78) to place 42nd individually. Junior Chris Hoffman was 60th individually with a three-round 241 (78-82-81).

The Bears' lineup also had sophomore John Giannuzzi carding scores of 81-81-86 (247), senior Ryan Larson, who shot 83-82-84 (249) and freshman Michael Amato, who carded scores of 87-88-84 (259) in the three-round event.

Brown will be back in action October 6-7 at the Yale Invitational.
