Rehoboth Beach, DE - Competing with just four players due to an injury, the Brown men's golf team turned in a gutsy performance at the Rehoboth Beach Invitational, finishing third overall with a two-round 613 (304, 309) at the par-71, 6,480-yard Kings Creek C.C. in Rehoboth Beach, DE. Penn captured the team title with a two-round 595, followed by George Washington (599), Brown, Beorge Washington B (615), Lafayette (627), Wesley College (629), St. Peter's (632), LaSalle (637), Fordham (643) and St. Francis NY (699).
The fact that every score throughout the tournament was in the 70's was especially impressive with just four players in the lineup.
"I'm proud of the way our team rallied together and turned in an impressive performance, despite competing with just four players," said Brown head coach Michael Hughes. "We had no margin for error, and our squad responded by working hard and finishing with a strong tournament."
Junior John Giannuzzi came through with a strong tournament, shooting 73-78--151 to lead the Bears and place sixth individually. He was followed closely by senior co-captain Conor Malloy, who came in at 76-77--153, to place 13th individually.
Next up for coach Hughes' team is the Adams Cup of Newport, September 22-23, at the Newport National Golf Club.
