Bossier City, LA - The Brown men's golf team shot a solid 316 on the final day of competition at the Hal Sutton Intercollegiate, placing fifth overall at the par-72 Stonebridge Golf Club. Birmingham Southern shot 296 on the final day to finish with a three-round 888, overtaking McNeese (890), Centenary (917), North Dakota State (921), Brown (940) and Alabama State (982).
Junior Conor Malloy led the Brown team with a final round 75 to compile a three-round 230 (81-74-75), placing 12th individually. Senior Larry Haertel placed 15th overall with a three round 233, shooting consistent scores of 78-77-78.
Junior Chris Hoffman and sophomore John Giannuzzi had solid tournaments, finishing 20th and 21st overall. Hoffman came in with scores of 75-80-84--239, while Giannuzzi shot a three-round 243 (82-82-79). Freshman Michael Amato finished with a three-round 248 (79-80-89).
The Bears will be back in action on Saturday and Sunday, April12-13, competing in the 13-team New England Division I Championship, held at the Triggs Golf Club in Providence, Rhode Island. Haertel won the individual championship a year ago and will look to defend his title.
