Haertel, Malloy Help Bears Place 12th At Eastern Kentucky Spring Invitational

Richmond, Kentucky - Junior Larry Haertel (Greenwich, CT) shot a three-round 217 to help the Brown men's golf team to a 12th place finish at the two-day Eastern Kentucky Invitational. In their first tournament of the spring season, the Bears finished strong with a third round 295, the third best team score of the day.
Haertel, the defending Ivy League individual champion, shot scored of 73-73-71 on the par-72, 6638-yard layout to place 13th individually. He was followed close behind by teammate Conor Malloy (Rye, NY), a sophomore, who carded scores of 73-75-70--217 to place in the Top 20 at 19th place. Malloy's two-under par 70 was the fifth best score of the day on Saturday.
Sophomore Chris Hoffman (Solon, OH) also had a solid tournament for the Bears, carding scores of 78-79-76--233, while freshman John Giannuzzi (Wellesley, MA) shot a three-round 235 (80, 77, 78). Freshman Trevor Carle (Santa Rosa, CA) also scored for the Bears with scores of 79-88-81--248.
