Men’s Golf Fifth At Ivy League Championship; Hargrove Ties For First Individually

Springfield, N.J. - Playing the hallowed links of the world renowned Baltusrol Golf Club, the Brown men's golf team posted a fifth place finish at the Ivy League Championship with a three day 908, just three shots out of fourth place.  In addition, Brown senior Nelson Hargrove (Haverford, PA) earned a first place finish individually in a tie for first place, but lost the medal in a playoff.

The fifth place finish by Brown was its best at the Ivy Championship since the 2007 team finished second. Columbia captured the team championship with a 54-hole 891.

Hargrove completed his Brown career by shooting a five over par 215 over 54 holes on scores of 70-72-73 at the par 70, 6,996 yard lower course at Baltusrol, the site of several US Open Championships. He finished in a first place tie with Harvard's Theodore Lederhausen, who shot 72-72-71.

In the playoff, played back at No. 1, Hargrove hit a solid drive down the par-4, 478-yard hole. But then he flew the green with his second shot. Lederhausen's drive found the first cut, but his approach wound-up dead-center on the green. After Hargrove made bogey, Lederhausen made a two-putt for par.

Bears' senior Peter Callas (Moline, IL) earned a Top 20 finish at Baltusrol, capping off his career by shooting a second consecutive 73 to finish at 277, 17th individually. Junior Justin Miller (Oakmont, PA) completed a strong tournament by shooting 74 on Sunday for a 54-hole 230.

Freshman Chad Carlson (Overland Park, KS) shot 82 on the final day to finish at 240, while junior Jack Wilson (Fairfield, CA) came in at 246 after shooting 87 on the final day.
