Hargrove Leads Field At Baltusrol After Day One of Ivy League Championship

Springfield, N.J. -  Brown senior Nelson Hargrove is tied for the individual lead after the opening round of play at the Ivy League Men's Golf Championship, held at the world-renown Baltustol Country Club.

 

The Brown team is in eighth place after shooting an opening day 311.  In a tightly contested opening round, Harvard and Dartmouth share the 18-hole lead at 299, followed by Yale (300), Columbia (302), Penn (302), Cornell (306), Princeton (308) and Brown (311).

 

Playing Baltusrol's lower course, Hargrove posted four birdies and four bogey's with his even par 70 on the 7,400 yard course which has hosted seven US Open Championships, four US Amateur's and two PGA Championships.

 

Sophomore Jack Wilson shot 79, junior Justin Miller came in with 81, senior Peter Callas  carded 81 and freshman Chad Carlson shot 83 for the Bears.

 

The Ivy League Championship continues at Baltusrol with 18 holes on Saturday and 18 holes on Sunday.
