Men’s Golf Third At Ivy League Match Play Tournament With Wins Over Harvard and Yale
 

Princeton, New Jersey - Playing its final competition of the fall season, the Brown men's golf team defeated both Harvard and Yale in head-to-head matches to place third at the Ivy League match play tournament played at the par 72, 7098 yard TPC at Jasna Polana. Host Princeton captured the championship with a 3-1-1 win over Dartmouth.

 

Coach Mike Hughes' team defeated Harvard, 3-2, in first round matches on Saturday, before falling to Princeton, 3-0-2, in second round competition.  The Bears earned a hard-fought 3-2 win over Yale to place third overall.

 

In Brown's opening win over Harvard, sophomore Justin Miller earned a decisive 6 & 5 win to give the Bears a 1-0 lead. Junior Peter Callas was a 5 & 4 winner, while senior Nelson Hargrove captured a 1-up victory to clinch the match.

 

The Bears struggled against Princeton, falling 3-0-2, in a match that started on Saturday, was suspended due to darkness, and completed Sunday morning.

 

Brown's 3-2 win over Yale came behind the strong play of Miller, who came away with a 6 & 5 win over the Elis.  Freshman Jack Wilson was a 1-up winner over Yale and Hargrove came through once again with a 1-up victory to give Brown the overall win over Yale.
