Providence, RI - The Brown Bears men's golf team was recognized with the President's Recognition Award from the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) for the third consecutive season for achieving the second highest team GPA in all of NCAA Division I golf.
Brown also was named to the first team All-Academic team with its 3.62 GPA, the 5th straight year that the Bears have earned the award.
"It's gratifying for our players to be recognized for their work in the classroom as well as on the course," said head coach Michael Hughes. "To be singled out for academic excellence is in keeping with what Brown student-athletes represent and I will humbly accept this special accolade in December on behalf of the entire Brown Community".
Just 12 Division I teams were honored with the President's recognition Award for having a team GPA of 3.5 or better: Brown, Arkansas, Canisius, DePaul, Harvard, Kennesaw State, Tennessee, Troy, Utah Valley, Valparaiso, William & Mary and Yale also received President's Special Recognition status for having team GPAs of 3.5 or better.
