Bears Place 18th At Adams Cup of Newport

Aquidneck Island, RI - Brown completed play at the Adams Cup of Newport and placed 18th overall in the two-day tournament, with the first 36 holes played at the par-72, 7244 yard Newport National Golf Club, and the final round at the par-71, 6675 yard Carnegie Abbey Country Club. The Bears were paced by freshman Justin Miller, who carded a three-round 229 to finish 61st individually.

 

Central Florida (842) captured the team title by nine shots over Georgia (851), followed by Yale (860), Texas tech (864), Villanova (871), Nova Southeastern (871), Dartmouth (876), Hartford (882), central Connecticut (886), Connecticut (886), DePaul (889), URI (894),  Rollins (899), temple (917), Holy Cross (921), Boston College (929), St. Joseph's (930), Brown (932) and Bryant (938).

 

Miller's 229 came on rounds of 78-77-74.  Freshman Jon Greb was second on the Brown team with a three-round 236, shooting 81-78-77.

 

Sophomore Kyohei Itamura shot 78-76-83—237, while junior JD Ardell shot 238 on rounds of 81-79-78.  Sophomore Peter Callas came in at 242, shooting 76-86-80.

 

Coach Mike Hughes' men's golf team will be back in action again September 26-27 at the Hartford Invitational.
