DeOssie Named Ivy League Defensive Player of the Week

Providence, RI - Junior All-American linebacker Zak DeOssie (North Andover, MA) was named the Ivy League's Defensive Player of the Week after he registered a career high 18 tackles, including 1.5 tackles for a loss, in a 38-24 Ivy League road win over Cornell. The victory lifted the Bears to a 5-1 overall record, their best start since 1999, and a 2-1 Ivy League mark.
DeOssie was recently named to the Buck Buchanan Award Watch by The Sports Network as one of 16 players eligible for the national defensive player of the year award. He currently ranks second in three different national defensive categories - total tackles (12.5 per game), solo tackles (7.40 per game, and tackles for a loss (2.20 per game).
A first team All-Ivy and All-New England selection, DeOssie leads the Bears' defense with 65 total tackles, including 37 solo stops and 11 tackles for a loss. He was Ivy League's fourth leading tackler a year ago with 98 total tackles, including 53 solo stops.
