Providence, RI -
Saturday's Ivy League battle between Brown and Princeton will be televised live on NESN, kicking off at 12:36 p.m. at Brown Stadium. Jerry Trupiano will call the play and Steve DeOssie P'07 will provide the color commentary in the NESN broadcast booth, with Paul Souza serving as sideline reporter. Brown and Princeton are the last two Ivy League Champions, the Bears in 2005 and the Tigers in 2006.
Brown racked-up 422 passing yards and 544 yards of total offense against Holy Cross last week, but the Bears fell to the Crusaders by a 48-37 margin in their final non-league game of the season, falling to 1-3 overall, 0-1 Ivy. Bears' junior quarterback Michael Dougherty was named the Ivy League Offensive Player of the Week after passing for more than 400 yards for the second straight week, and senior kicker Steve Morgan was named Ivy League Special Teams Player of the Week after booting three field goals and becoming the Ivy League all-time leader in career kicking points. Princeton dropped a 48-27 non-league decision to Hampton last week to fall to 2-2 overall and 1-0 in the Ivy League.
Brown and Princeton have met 73 times, dating back to 1898, with the Tigers holding a 51-22-0 series advantage. In a defensive battle last year in Princeton, the Tigers came away with a 17-3 victory over the Bears. Brown's last win over Princeton came in 2005 when the Bears earned a thrilling 31-28 victory over the Tigers on a rainy afternoon in Providence.
