Buddy Farnham Named Ivy League Rookie of the Week

Oct. 2, 2006

Providence, RI - Brown freshman wide receiver Buddy Farnham (Andover, Mass./Andover High School) was named the Ivy League Rookie of the Week after a strong performance against Rhode Island in the battle for the Governor's Cup.

Farnham made five receptions for 64 yards against the Rams, including a long reception of 21 yards. He returned punts for the first time this season, coming up with a 19-yard punt return that set up Brown's third touchdown, returning the ball from the Brown 20 to its 39-yard line.

Farnham opened the season with two big plays in Brown's win over Georgetown. He caught a 16-yard pass in the second quarter in Brown's go-ahead touchdown drive that led to a 13-7 Brown lead. In the third quarter, Farnham actually made a 32-yard reception, scampering into the end zone, but the Bears were called for holding at the two-yard line so he was credited with a 30-yard reception.

Buddy's dad, Mark Farnham `80, was a record-setting wide receiver for the Bears from 1977-1979, while his uncles Bob '77 and Paul '83, were also standout wide receivers at Brown.
