Bears Open 2006 Season Against Georgetown

Providence, RI - Brown's long awaited 2006 season opener will take place on Saturday, September 16th at Brown Stadium, when the defending Ivy League Champion Brown football team opens its 129th season of intercollegiate football against Georgetown in the second ever meeting between the two teams. Head Coach Phil Estes' team earned a 34-3 victory over Georgetown in the first ever meeting between the two teams a year ago in Washington, DC.

Last year's Brown squad posted a 9-1 overall record, 6-1 in the Ivy League, capturing the Ivy League Championship. The Bears will be looking for their ninth straight win overall and ninth consecutive victory at Brown Stadium.

The Bears return five All-Ivy players to this year's team, including linebacker Zak DeOssie '07 (first), quarterback Joe DiGiacomo `07 (honorable mention), kicker/punter Steve Morgan '08 (first), wide receiver Lonnie Hill '07 (honorable mention), and offensive lineman Alex Doty `07 (second).
