Providence, R.I. - Brown senior wide receiver Reiley Higgins (Coto de Caza, CA) was named the Ivy League's Special Teams Player of the Week after scoring two touchdowns in Brown's 42-16 win over Cornell, including one of the rarest plays in football, a touchdown return of an onside kick.
A member of the "hands" team, Higgins braced himself for a Cornell onside kick midway through the fourth quarter. Higgins grabbed the onside kick in full stride, broke through the initial group of Big Red tacklers and never looked back, scampering 44-yards for a touchdown.
Higgins also grabbed an 11-yard touchdown pass from senior quarterback Marcus Fuller. He caught two passes overall, totaling 37 yards against the Big Red. Higgins has 12 receptions for 136 yards for the season.
A Business, Entrepreneurship and Organizations concentrator at Brown, Higgins is a graduate of Santa Margurita High School where he was a two-time Trinity League selection, team captain as a senior and recipient of the Academic Eagle Award.
Higgins and his Brown teammates travel to Philadelphia, PA on Saturday, November 1, to battle the Penn Quakers. Game time is 1pm at Franklin Field.
