Patrick Donnelly Earns New England Gold Helmet Award

Providence, R.I. - Brown senior quarterback Patrick Donnelly (Longmeadow, Mass.) was named the Division I recipient of the New England Football Writers' Gridiron Club of Greater Boston Gold Helmet Award as the top player in New England last week.

Brown's signal caller orchestrated a fourth-quarter comeback against Dartmouth, rallying the Bears from down 10 to a 28-24 victory to guarantee a winning season for the fifth straight year.  Donnelly connected with classmate Jonah Fay for an 18-yard touchdown with just 1:14 remaining on the clock to cap the rally after rushing for a three-yard touchdown just over five minutes earlier to get Brown within three. The Longmeadow, Mass. native finished the day 20-of-32 for 233 yards with two passing touchdowns and two rushing scores.

Donnelly and his Brown teammates will conclude the 2012 season on Saturday, hosting Columbia at Brown Stadium.  Brown's 28 seniors will be honored in pre-game ceremonies, and members of the Armed Forces and Veterans will be recognized in Military Appreciation Day festivities.
