Brown’s Nate Meyer Named Ivy League Special Teams Player of the Week
Providence, R.I. - Brown junior punter Nathaniel Meyer (Bettendorf, Iowa) was named the Ivy League Special Teams Player of the Week for helping Brown win the battle of field position in the Bears' 17-7 victory over Rhode Island for the Governor's Cup on Saturday in Kingston, RI.
Meyer averaged 40.3 yards per punt on five punts, with a long punt of 55 yards and three times pinning the Rams deep in their own territory. Meyer had punts downed at the 18, 13 and 17-yard lines. His second half punting forced Rhode Island into poor field position as the Bears held the Rams scoreless in the second half.
Meyer is punting for a 40.2 average, with his strategic punting holding Brown's opponents to just four return yards for the season.
The Bears return to Ivy League action on Saturday, October 13, traveling to Princeton, New Jersey to face the Princeton Tigers. The game will be televised live on the NBC Sports Network with kick-off at 12:05 p.m.
