Zak DeOssie '07 Claims Second Super Bowl Ring
Providence, RI - Former Brown linebacker Zak DeOssie '07 reached the top of the mountain once again, winning his second Super Bowl in five years as a member of the New York Giants, who defeated the New England Patriots, 21-17, Sunday evening in Super Bowl XLVI in Indianapolis.
A two-time Pro Bowl selection, DeOssie is the Special Teams captain of the Giants. He was flawless on all four punt snaps, two field goals and an extra point.
After New York was forced to punt on the first possession of the game, DeOssie sprinted down field and downed the ball at the Patriots' 6-yard-line. One play later, the Giants scored on a safety when Patriots quarterback Tom Brady was called for intentional grounding in the end zone.
DeOssie also gained national attention by calling tails on the opening coin flip (it was heads) as over 111.3 million total viewers tuned in to the epic matchup between the Giants and Patriots.
