Providence, Rhode Island - Brown senior safety Stephen Peyton (Woodland, CA) has been named the Ivy League Defensive Player of the Week for his outstanding play in Brown's 20-13 victory over Holy Cross on Saturday, enabling the Bears to extend their record to 3-1 on the season.
Peyton led Brown's solid defensive effort against the high-scoring Holy Cross offense by making10 tackles and intercepting a pass at the Holy Cross 28 yard line with 58 seconds remaining to cement the Brown win. Seven of Peyton's tackles were solo hits and he broke up two passes for the Bears.
Brown's leading tackler and All-Ivy selection a year ago, Peyton has made 29 tackles for the season, third on the Brown squad.
Peyton and his Brown teammates return to the gridiron on Saturday, hosting Ivy rival Princeton at Brown Stadium, starting at 12:30 p.m.
