Kyle Newhall-Caballero Named Ivy League Co-Offensive Player of the Week
Providence, Rhode Island - Bears' senior quarterback Kyle Newhall-Caballero (Gilbert, AZ) made a triumphant return to the Brown lineup against Stony Brook, leading the Bears to a 21-20 come-from-behind victory over the Seawolves, and was named the Ivy League Co-Offensive Player of the Week.
Newhall-Caballero, the Ivy League's first team All-League quarterback in 2009, missed Brown's last seven games of 2010 with a broken wrist. With Brown trailing 20-14 late in the fourth quarter, Newhall-Caballero engineered a 57-yard scoring drive, capped off by a 12-yard touchdown pass to junior wide receiver Tellef Lundevall with 3:06 remaining to give Brown a 21-20 win over Stony Brook.
Playing on the road and under constant pressure from the huge Stony Brook front line, completed 22 of 37 passes for 292 yards, and threw touchdown passes of 38, 46 and 12 yards in his first competition in nearly a year.
Newhall-Caballero and his Brown teammates return to action Friday evening, September 23, traveling to Boston, Mass. to face Harvard. Game time is 7:00 p.m. at Harvard Stadium.
