Brown Football Prepares To Open Pre-Season Camp
Providence, RI – Excitement surrounds the Brown football program as head coach Phil Estes and the Brown Football team prepares for the 2011 season, its 134th season of intercollegiate football. The Bears report to pre-season camp on Tuesday, August 23rd, poised to make a run at the Ivy League title once again with the return of 10 All-Ivy players from last year's second place team that posted a 5-2 Ivy League mark.
Following the long pre-season, Brown kicks-off its 2011 season with three straight night games, opening at Stony Brook on Saturday, September 17 at 6:00 p.m., and then traveling to Boston to face Harvard on Friday evening, September 23 in the opening game of the Ivy League season.
Brown hosts Rhode Island for the Governor's Cup on Saturday, October 1, in the second ever night game played at historic Brown Stadium, with kick-off on the East Side slated for 6:00 p.m. The game is presented by Dexter Credit Union. Last year's attendance of 17,360 in Brown's night game vs. Harvard was the largest crowd of any sporting event in the State of Rhode Island in 2010.
