Brown-Rhode Island Night Game Highlights Brown’s 2011 Football Schedule

Providence, Rhode Island - Brown football coach Phil Estes has released his team's 2011 schedule with five home games at historic Brown Stadium, including an October 1 evening match-up against cross-state rival Rhode Island under the lights in the battle for the Governor's Cup.

In addition, Brown Athletics announced a new ticketing system, partnering with TicketReturn, to allow tickets to be scanned at all events and to be purchased online at brownbears.com.

Brown's first three games will be played at night, opening on the road at Stony Brook on Saturday, September 17 (6:00 p.m.) and at Harvard on Friday, September 23 (7:00 p.m.).

The Bears' home opener against the URI Rams on Saturday, October 1 kicks-off at 6:00 p.m. in the second ever night game played at Brown Stadium. Last year's night game against Harvard drew an overflow crowd of 17,350 revelers to the venerable stadium on the East Side of Providence. Portable Musco lighting will be brought in for the match-up against URI.

Estes' squad will also play Saturday afternoon home games on October 8 against Holy Cross, October 15 against Princeton (Homecoming/Family Weekend), October 29 against Penn, and November 12 vs. Dartmouth.

The remainder of Brown's road slate includes Saturday afternoon games against Cornell (10/29), Yale (11/5) and Columbia (11/19).

Football season ticket renewals and new season ticket orders are available on TicketReturn beginning June 13, with renewal notices going out the week of June 6th. Individual tickets go on sale to the general public on August 20. Renewals and ticket purchases can be done online at brownbears.com, over the phone at 401-863-2773, or in person at the Pizzitola Sports Center.

Brown's entire 10-game schedule will once again be broadcast live on WPRV-AM 790, with Scott Cordischi calling the play and Mike Wall '99 providing the color commentary.
