Providence, Rhode Island - Brown's football team will wrap-up its 2010 season on Saturday, November 20, battling Columbia at Brown Stadium, starting at 12:30 pm. Brown (5-4, 4-2 Ivy) put itself in position to finish with a winning season after a 35-28 come-from-behind victory over Dartmouth in Hanover, NH, last Saturday.
With a 4-2 Ivy League record, the Bears are assured of a winning Ivy season for the 10th time in head coach Phil Estes' 13 years at Brown, and the 27th time since the Ivy League began playing football in 1956.
While Penn is assured of at least a share of the Ivy title with a 6-0 league mark, the Bears can finish as high as second place in the Ivy standings. Brown (4-2) is currently tied with Harvard (4-2) for third place in the league. Yale is second with a 5-1 Ivy mark. A Brown victory over Columbia, and a Harvard win over Yale, would create a three-way tie for second place in the Ivy standings.
Brown's Class of 2011 has quietly established itself as one of the most successful groups in Brown football history. Brown's 26 seniors will be honored in ceremonies prior to today's game against Columbia, having posted a 23-16 record so far during their four-year careers, with four consecutive winning Ivy seasons, and an Ivy League title in 2008. Its incredible 18-9 Ivy record ranks third best ever at Brown. Only the Brown Class of 2002 (20 wins) and the Brown Class of 2001 (19 wins) have earned more Ivy victories. Brown's Class of 2011 includes: John Anderson, Dan Ball, John Connelly, Patrick Conroy, John Cook, Cameron Cotton, Brian Ellixson, Robert Gillett, Blaine Grinna, Ryley Hegarty, Marc Howland, Kyle Johnson, Chris Lamar, Russell Leedy, Kasey McCurdy, Clay McGrath, Kyle Newhall-Caballero, Chimso Okoji, Alex Prestley, Jeremy Raducha, Phil Roffi, Patrick Rooney, Andrew Serrano, Joe Springer, Matt Sudfeld, Alexander Tounkara, and Zachary Tronti.
