Henley-on-Thames, England - The Henley Royal Regatta is into its third day and the Brown men's crew is off to a great start. The freshman eight, who competed in the Temple Challenge Cup, has won races against Jesus College, Cambridge and Leeds University both by a margin of "easily." The freshman also defeated West England this evening by 3.75 lengths.
The Brown varsity raced Downing College and Cambridge Lightweights on Thursday and won "easily." On Friday morning, the varsity competed against Syracuse University clocking in at 7:09 to beat the Orangemen by five lengths. Saturday, the varsity will race Harvard in the semifinal of the Ladies' Challenge Plate.
Brown's one defeat has come in the pair; juniors Jamie Marcus (Dover, MA) and Garrett Kirk (Boston, MA) were beaten by a German crew yesterday. Both Bears achieved a lot in qualifying for the pairs race at Henley, the Silver Goblets, and they have done an exceptional job.
